Local Mearns Councillor and co-founder of the Save our Mearns campaign Tracey Smith was selected as the Scottish Conservative candidate for the 2026 Scottish Parliamentary election in Angus North and Mearns. Tracey has a strong connection to the area, serving on the parent council at Mearns Academy, supporting young people through the Children's Hearing Panel and co-founding the Save Our Mearns organisation to stop the Monster Pylon takeover of the Mearns.
